Real Donkey engines came in all shapes and sizes. This is a smaller one, but far from the smallest.
The two drums make it the perfect choice for operating an "A" frame hoist. One drum would move the "A" frame in and out while the other would hoist the lift cable.
Of course once these made it to the woods they were used for whatever was needed at the time, so you could find them doing just about any task.
