Highlands
Probably the most well known spot on Burlington Northern Santa Fe’s
street-level, three-track main line in Chicago known as the "raceway" is
Highlands station in eastern Hinsdale, IL 60521. When freight and passenger train volumes
are combined it is one of the busiest spots around. With Metra running 94 trains on weekdays. Amtrak’s Southwest Chief, plus the California and
Illinois Zephyrs and the many freight trains it is a train watchers delight as
it also
features a park and a narrow street “rainbow bridge.”
