Real Donkey engines came in all shapes and sizes. This is a average/large sized one.

Donkey engines were not just limited to logging. They could be found in many industries were a winch or hoist was needed.

Almost No HO Scale Layout should be without at least one of these and several more if you model logging or mining operations.

Works great with HO standard gauge, HOn3, HOn2 1/2, HOn30, etc...

The two drums make it the perfect choice for operating an "A" frame hoist. One drum would move the "A" frame in and out while the other would hoist the lift cable. Also works well for a mine hoist engine.

Of course once these made it to the woods they were used for whatever was needed at the time, so you could find them doing just about any task and this one is big enough to get the job done.

BEWARE: some plastic and resin donkey engines on the HO market are really N Scale and too small for HO use!

With all the separate pieces on this model including the drums it has been rumored that it can be made to operate! This would of course be up to the modeler, but we would love to see it if you do so.
