The Loon Lake Railway & Navigation Co. is a freelance railroad set in the Northwest in the late thirties. The railroad services mines, logging and various small industries. Steam power consists of Shays and Heislers plus there’s a couple of locally built gas powered critters. The layout features lots of very detailed, scratch-built structures and a waterfront town and wharf scene. The 120 foot mainline is code 70, Tomalco Flex-Track. Branch lines are code 55 flex-track with stub switches. All of the track was painted and weathered prior to installation.
The layout occupies a 26’ x 20’ area in a large recreation room. Operation is point to point but the railroad can be operated in a continuous loop. The unique benchwork has a drink/tool shelf along the perimeter following the design of Seattle modeler, Brian Elerby. It is wall mounted with a large peninsula. Power is provided by a PBL sound system. There is a wealth of nice detail in this layout.
