"San Miguel Southern, Silver Ridge Line, Colorado & Pacific Short Line"
Photos by Tom Mallien II

The layout represents railroading and scenery in southwestern Colorado, “as I would like it to be in the mid 1950’s,” with three short lines just hanging on by hauling coal, ore, cattl, LCL freight, a few passengers, mail, oil and the needs of the towns of San Miguel, Silver Ridge and Durango.

Located in a 26’ x 26’ space; it is an around the wall design with two peninsulas. The main railroad is the On3 San Miguel Southern, which connects with the On2 Silver Ridge Line and the standard gauge Colorado & Pacific Short Line in the town of Silver Ridge. Great backdrops painted on wall board and super detailed scenes abound. The layout is about 40% complete.

Scenery is of various methods, including chicken wire, paper towels dipped in Hydrocal and plenty of rock castings.
