Don Taschner's
(HO/HOn3)
"Wabash, Santa Fe
and Rio Grande"

Don Taschner's free lance railroad occupies an 8' x 22' room. The walls are drywall over foundation concrete. The bench work is 1 x 4 open grid, bolted to the walls at 42" above the floor. The grid work is topped with 2" construction foam.

All grades are made with Woodland Scenics foam and formed to shape. The complete layout is covered with structolite plaster that has been stained and painted with acrylics. All rock walls and tunnel portals were cast in hydrocal in home made rubber molds.

The HO line is code 100 flex track on cork roadbed with Atlas #4 and #6 switches, cross overs and slip switches. Its main line consists of a two track main with a six track yard that includes a turntable, 4-stall roundhouse, 2-stall diesel facilities and various other industries.

The HOn3 line consists of code 70 dual gauge flex track with switches on cork roadbed. There's a 2-stall roundhouse, four track yard, railcar repair shed, engine service facilities, a gold mine, log pond and camp, saw mill a small western and a lake with a resort area.

The drywall backdrop is painted sky blue with clouds stenciled on with Krylon spray paint. Structures are mostly Campbell and Fine Scale Miniatures along with several scratch built ones too. An Aristrocraft walk around throttle is used along with PFM and both Diesel and Steam sound systems by Soundtraxx.
